Dave Gaslin is a music editorial and fashion photographer based in Denver, CO. After graduating from the Art Institute of Colorado, Dave has gone on to photograph some of the country’s biggest musicians and to create and collaborate on national and international ad campaigns for recording artists on major record labels. Some of his clients include Apple Inc, Nike, Capitol Records, Columbia Records, Geffen Records, Island Def-Jam Recordings, Sony Records, Universal Recording Group, Virgin Records, Rolling Stone Magazine, Spin Magazine, Alternative Press Magazine and MTV.

PORTRAIT INTENSIVE 6-Week Course

Work with Dave Gaslin, talented portrait photographer, who is able to use the most basic to most advanced equipment to make professional images. In this in-depth, 6 week workshop you will learn the art of photographing people. The relationship between subject and photographer involves an exchange of trust, a giving and sharing to capturing that essential moment. You will learn methods of engaging your subjects to achieve the best from them and you will understand when to let your models work for you. Explore viewing fine art portraiture in different ways and tackle lighting that will create the ideal mood for the moment.

You will work with models and with each other to create dynamic portraits by using a variety of lighting techniques. Assignments and critique will be given to ensure your comprehension of material.

You will need some sort of lighting equipment to get the most out of this class. Familiarity with your camera and experience using manual/[M] settings are required.


LOCATION LIGHTING & PORTRAITURE Weekend Course
Learn to use not only natural lighting but adding studio lights to create a more creative and captivating photograph. You will explore the use of reflectors, strobes, and tungsten to light and photograph portraits, street scenes, and people in all types of situations and enviornments. Working in the studio and on locations you will become more proficient with using light creatively and dealing with different spaces and finding solutions to problems, all while exploring your own personal style.


DIGITAL WORKFLOW One-day Saturday Course
Avoid agonizing hours searching for the image you want, take charge of the hundreds of images that you so freely capture and dump onto your computer! Be confident - no more sleep deprivation - your revised versions and originals will be saved correctly. You will recognize them easily no matter how many little tweaks you make and save for your best creative endeavor ever. This comprehensive workshop will help you organize your digital life with built-in cataloguing, archiving and naming features in Adobe Photoshop. Get started on the right foot with settings for your initial camera capture, proceed to choices for file storage, editing, printing, archiving. Learn to use keywords and meta-data, naming conventions, batch processing, automating and more. Bring your notebook and Laptop if available, loaded with Adobe Photoshop version 6 or newer.


DIGITAL 101 Weekend Course
with Ellen Yeiser Day one and Dave Gaslin Day two.
Digital 101 is the perfect class to get you started on the path to taking great pictures!  This weekend class will teach you basic camera techniques, editing skills, and digital workflow using Adobe Photoshop Elements.  Day one will teach you to use your all of your camera settings including white balance, image size, aperture and shutter control and more. Now learn what to do with them after you’ve shot them! Day two covers basic Adobe Photoshop techniques including image transfer to your computer, cropping, levels and color control. While this is a beginning level photography class, it is important that your camera has manual settings and basic computer skills are required.  You are welcome to bring your own laptop to class.
