WORKING WITH ARTISTS
ORGANIZATIONAL STANDARDS AND POLICIES
All WWA workshops are limited to small groups. This is essential to provide an excellent learning opportunity during which each student will have individual attention from the instructor. To make sure that student expectations are met, we do our best to provide a comprehensive description of each workshop, available on request. It is impossible to list complete information in brochures and online materials. We encourage people to contact us personally so that we may assist in determining the relevance and value of each workshop to the student's individual interests and needs.
INSTRUCTORS
Working with Artists sets high standards for instructors. All must have a bachelor's degree, or the equivalent in professional experience in their creative medium(s). In addition, they must: 1) be actively creating work, 2) show work in professional fine art galleries, 3) have extensive teaching experience and references, preferably at college or university level. All programs are created in collaboration with each artist/instructor and new proposals are welcomed by our Executive Director.
PAYMENTS AND REFUNDS
To provide our intensive learning environment, each and every registrant is an essential part of a workshop. Therefore, we require advance payment. Split payment plans are available and constitute a financial contract for which each student is legally responsible. Tuition is non-refundable* within 7** days of class start. A $50 RESCHEDULING FEE applies to all cancellations submitted less than 14 days prior to class start. All fees will be refunded if WWA cancels a workshop. Cancellation may be announced by WWA at any time. Cancellation can occur due to under-enrollment, instructor or management emergencies or other events which are out of our control. In the case of our cancellation, all fees paid to WWA will be refunded to the payer, or credited toward another workshop. WWA is not responsible for travel and lodging expenses or any other costs incurred as a result of cancellation.
*Health or family emergencies may qualify for exceptions. In this instance a maximum refund of 50% may be granted only if the cancellation does not cause major financial loss to Working with Artists.
**Guest artist workshops require a minimum of 30 day advance cancellation. No refunds will be granted within 30 days of workshop start.
LIABILITY
Working with Artists is not liable for injury or accident resulting from participation in our programs. It is the participant’s responsibility to obtain information about any risks involved. Student signature at the time of registration verifies release of liability of Working with Artists and their instructors. Any questions about workshop content, requirements or risks may be directed to Working with Artists prior to the time of registration. In some cases, i.e., “Travels with Artists”, an additional advance release may be required.
COPYRIGHTS & MODEL RELEASES
Working with Artists does not include copyrights or model releases for images created in our classes and workshops. If you don't have your own form, we have a selection of standard releases available and most workshop instructors will discuss your options during session. It is your responsibility to obtain the kind of release you are seeking from your models or subjects by discussing it with them directly. Please remember that you will not be able to sell, and may not be able to post your images online without permission from your models. Images created during our workshops may be used solely for your portfolios. Models and athletic teams often expect sample images to be sent to them for their portfolios and publicity. Your copyright should appear on the image. Working with Artists will often request permission to use your images in publicity for our school.
NON-DISCRIMINATION AND CONDUCT GUIDELINES
Working with Artists adheres to strict observation of non-discrimination in all aspects of our organization. We do not discriminate, and in fact we actively seek out people from all walks of life and of all ethnicities, ages and sexual orientation to participate in our programs both as students and in meeting our organizational needs. We have firm expectations for student and instructor responsibilities during all workshops; politeness and consideration of instructors, assistants, models and other students is required. Improper, illegal or rude behavior may result in dismissal from the current workshop and all future workshops, paid or unpaid.
PRICING
Workshops are priced based on content, instructor fees and the number of students who can be accommodated without compromising quality. We do our best to provide affordable workshops.
As a non-profit organization, our fees are structured to pay our expenses while we provide students, instructors and our community with high quality opportunities to expand understanding and appreciation for the fine art of photography.
