The digital realm has taken the photographic world by storm with its instant satisfaction and near infinite possibilities. Before there were digital files there was film. Film is alive and well, most notably in fine art photography. There is a certain feel from an image produced by film that is not the same when produced from digital images. In this informative workshop we will go back to the basics, beginning with exploring the various exposure and composing controls on your film camera and practice using them with shooting assignments each week. You will learn how aperture and shutter speed effect the feeling and creativity of your images, and how different films are better for some images than others. Starting the second week you will learn to process your own film, make contact sheets and print your own black and white images in the darkroom using enlargers and tray processing. The world of black and white film photography is a creative and wonderful place to learn the art of fine art photography! Come join us to learn this increasingly rare craft.
